Vascular endothelial cells (IMAGE)
Caption
Vascular endothelial cells play a central role in tumor progression by interacting with inflammatory cells and regulating angiogenesis. Signals released by tumor-associated immune cells stimulate endothelial cells to form new blood vessels, which support tumor growth, enable immune cell recruitment, and facilitate tumor cell entry into and exit from circulation. Endothelial cell dysfunction also contributes to therapeutic resistance by promoting hypoxia-driven alternative angiogenic pathways.
