Figure | All-optical neural network architecture. (a) Microscope images of the interferometer-based processor and the lithium-niobate nonlinear nanowaveguide. Electrical pads program the network parameters, while results are read from optical output ports. (b) Information is encoded in the light and first processed by interference for weighted summation. The signal then enters the PPLN waveguide, where an intrinsic nonlinear interaction activates it, completing the neuron operation entirely in the optical domain.
