Twistron Yarn (IMAGE)
Caption
This plied twistron yarn energy harvester, shown under an optical microscope, is about 200 micrometers in diameter, roughly twice the size of a human hair. University of Texas at Dallas researchers have developed a new electrolyte system that significantly boosts the energy-harvesting performance of twistrons, which are carbon nanotube yarns that generate electricity when repeatedly stretched.
