Wheat field in summer before the harvest - the green algae and Cyanobacteria have flourished in the warmer temperatures and benefited from the shade of fully grown wheat plants before harvest. The close-up on the left shows the soil surface with dark spots formed by green blue algae (Cyanobacteria). Under the micro-scope, the close-up on the right (d) shows Cyanobacteria filaments mixed with cells of green algae.
