Developing base edited embryos (IMAGE)
Caption
These microscope images show development of human embryos in the first week after fertilisation. The embryo divides from one cell to a 200-cell structure called a blastocyst. At this stage, 90% of cells will become the placenta, and only 10% will form the epiblast, which later form the body and the yolk sac.
