MRI Scan of the brain of the physician Conrad Heinrich Fuchs. (IMAGE)
Caption
It was on this brain that Rudolf Wagner first described the “bridge” in 1862. Pictured here is an MRI scan of the brain of Conrad Heinrich Fuchs, who served as a physician at Georg-August University in Göttingen. For nearly 150 years, the brain was mistakenly attributed to Carl Friedrich Gauss, until Renate Schweizer uncovered the mix-up in 2013. Clearly visible in the area marked in yellow: the “bridge” between the precentral and postcentral gyri.
