This map tracks the tropical cyclones associated with the 53 extreme Habagat southwest monsoon rainfall events analyzed in the study. Most of the cyclones are positioned northeast of the Philippines rather than directly over the country, helping strengthen the southwest monsoon and draw moisture toward western Luzon.
