Complications of pancreatitis are more frequently observed in patients with thromboembolic complications. (IMAGE)

(A) Organ failure in acute pancreatitis stratified by thrombosis status. Bars represent the proportion of patients with each organ-failure domain in the thrombosis and no-thrombosis groups. All organ-failure domains showed statistically significant differences between groups (p<0.05 for all comparisons). Organ-failure domains were defined according to clinically accepted criteria: Respiratory failure: oxygen saturation < 90% and/or presence of pleural effusion. Renal failure: documented acute kidney injury at presentation. Cardiovascular failure: shock and/or systolic blood pressure < 90 mmHg. Neurological failure: altered mental status at presentation. Any organ failure (composite endpoint): presence of ≥ 1 of the above organ-failure domains. Asterisks above bars indicate statistical significance (*p<0.05, **p<0.01, ***p<0.001). (B) Local complications in patients with acute pancreatitis and (C) interventional burden in the overall cohort, stratified by thrombosis status.
