Embryonic cacao (IMAGE)
Caption
Embryonic cacao is shown developing tiny flowers in a tissue culture. Cacao trees typically don't flower until they are between three and eight years of age. The team's work to spur early flowering promises to greatly speed up breeding to develop disease-resistant trees.
