Breast cancer cells in a preclinical model glow blue/green when CDK1 – the ‘engine’ of cell division – is switched on. (IMAGE)
Caption
These images show breast tumours in a new preclinical model developed by Garvan researchers. The cells carry a fluorescent sensor that lights up blue/green when CDK1 – the protein ‘engine’ cells need to divide – is switched on. Using it, the team watched CDK1 activity rise as tumours became invasive and stay high in tumours that kept growing despite treatment.
