Forearm blood flow measurements

Forearm blood flow measurements before cuff inflation, during blood flow blockage and after cuff release. During blockage, changes in the light signal slowed markedly. After cuff release, blood flow temporarily rose above its baseline level. The diagram on the right shows the measurement setup. Each condition was recorded in a separate short trial using the same instrument settings.
