Speed and Distances mRNAs Travel On (VIDEO)
Caption
mRNAs travel across relatively vast distances. Here they make their way across a network of microtubule roads 40 micrometers long. A typical neuron is ten times this length. Automated tracking of transported RNAs (lower panel) reveals the transport velocity and number of mRNAs transported in the same package.
