These are Terminal Ediacaran carbonate rocks in Three Gorges area (Hubei Province), People's Republic of China. These rocks were deposited in a shallow marine environment between 551 and 541 million years ago, and hold a record of the marine environmental changes that occurred at the time they were deposited.
