Arabidopsis Leaf Infected with Powdery Mildew (IMAGE)
Caption
This is a scanning electron micrograph of an Arabidopsis leaf infected with powdery mildew. The tree-like structures are leaf trichomes, the white filaments are vegetative structures and the white rods are reproductive organs of the fungus. The "storm" in the background is from electrons scattering on the surface of the microscope chamber.
