New research led by Dr Deborah Lycett of Coventry University shows that sufferers of type 2 diabetes mellitus who quit smoking are likely to see a temporary deterioration in their blood glucose control which could last up to three years. The study, which is published this week in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, was funded by the National Institute for Health Research's School for Primary Care Research.
