Specimen of Polka-Dot Treefrog Boana Punctata (IMAGE)
Caption
Specimen of polka-dot treefrog Boana punctata active at night in Bella Vista, Corrientes, Argentina. During the day the animals assume a resting position on the leaves, matching their color, a phenomenon largely aided by a biliverdin-binding protein of the serpin family. At night, the frog's color changes, with red, yellow and white patches appearing.
