A Subset of C. elegans Male-specific Sensory Neurons are Labeled with a GFP Reporter Gene (IMAGE)
Caption
A subset of C. elegans male-specific sensory neurons are labeled with a GFP reporter gene. The male has four sex-specific sensory neurons in the head (left end), but most of the male-specific neurons are in the tail. The tail sensory neurons shown innervate finger-like rays that extend out of the body in an acellular fan. They sense contact with the hermaphrodite and trigger copulation. The circles of fluorescence are the cell bodies.
