mRNAスプライシングとは、タンパク質の合成に必要な情報部分を分断している箇所（図中の黄色部分）を除去してmRNAを再度つなぎ合わせることです。図中右側の閉塞性肺疾患が進展する過程では、このmRNAスプライシングで異常が起きています。
