Leicoma pig (IMAGE) University of Rochester Caption In the early 1970s, the Leicoma was the first hybrid pig in the GDR to achieve breed status. Named for the cities near the three facilities that developed the hybrid-- Leipzig, Cottbus, and Magdeburg--the new pig breed was subsequently adopted in most of East Germany's pork facilities.
