Marsquake Sol 235 (VIDEO)
Caption
7 seconds: In this seismogram of a marsquake you can see and hear the two distinct waves recorded by the InSight mission's seismometer on Sol 235. A compression wave hits first, followed by a shear wave. The different travel times of these waves enable scientists to determine the source of quakes and the materials they travel through. (The recording has been slowed down from the original by more than 200 times.)
