Evalyn Gates demonstrates the phenomenon of gravitational lensing. She is the author of "Einstein's Telescope: The Hunt for Dark Matter and Dark Energy in the Universe," published in February by W.W. Norton. Gates is Assistant Director of the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics at the University of Chicago.
