Thin blades protrude like fins from Comanche Spur just below Spirit's instrument arm (left). These mark where carbonate-rich water left fracture-filling deposits, which have proved somewhat more resistant to erosion than the surrounding rock. This image was taken by Spirit's Hazcam; for scale, the rover's wheels are 10 inches in diameter.
