NASA AIRS Infrared Image of TD5's Clouds/Thunderstorms (IMAGE)
Caption
This infrared image of TD5's clouds from NASA's Aqua satellite was captured on Aug. 16 at 19:35 UTC (3:35 p.m. EDT) and shows a disorganized system. The strongest convection (and thunderstorms) are colored in purple and appear in several areas. The purple coloration indicates highest cloud tops as cold as or colder than -63 Fahrenheit. They appear scattered over southeastern Texas and various areas south of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico in a half-moon shape from west to east.
