Deliberately Embedded Flaws In 3-D-Printed Objects (1 of 2) (IMAGE)
Caption
This is an example of how researchers at NYU Tandon School of Engineering can embed flaws in 3-D printed objects so that only trusted parties can print the part correctly. The top bar, which was printed under the right processing conditions, does not contain an embedded surface and has high quality. The bottom bar shows the embedded surface and will have lower quality and breaks easily at the discontinuity.
