Brain-Machine Interfaces Trigger Partial Neurological Recovery in Chronic Paraplegics (VIDEO)
Caption
This is a summary of the Walk Again Project’s history and clinical results. The Walk Again Neurorehabilitation (WA-NR) protocol, described in a paper published on Aug. 11th, 2016 in Scientific Reports, included training with brain-machine interfaces applied to virtual reality and robotic-based locomotion trainingin 8 patients with chronic complete Spinal Cord Injury (complete paraplegia). We present evidences of partial sensory and motor recovery in all patients after 12 months of training with the WA-NR protocol.
