Insight into a breeding system of the sugarcane shot-hole borer Xyleborus affinis in artificial culture medium. In the tunnel on the right you see a male with a small horn on his forehead and behind it a female. The female is feeding on the tunnel wall, which is overgrown with fungi. White fungal mycelium is growing into the medium from the tunnel wall.
