3-D Crystal Structure of the Protein Kinase Domain of Epidermal Growth Factor (IMAGE)
Caption
The 3-D crystal structure of the protein kinase domain of epidermal growth factor (EGF). The EGF receptor is often mutated in human cancers. The locations of critical amino acids that are important for the function of protein kinases, and which are also conserved in glutaminyl-tRNA synthetase are colored. The protein kinases appeared to have evolved from a glutaminyl-tRNA synthetase-like protein.
