Proper preparation for a colonoscopy exam may be almost as important to the eventual detection of colon polyps as the screening test itself. Up to one in four colonoscopy patients don’t prepare adequately for the test, and gastroenterologists at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have found that when preparation is poor, doctors often miss dangerous, pre-cancerous growths.
