Bacterial Expression of <i>Escherichia coli</i> (IMAGE)

Figure 1 shows the bacterial expression of Escherichia coli common pilus (ECP) using fluorescence (in green) in biofilm (A) and in contact with cells (B). Both commensal and pathogenic E. coli strains produce ECP. In Avian pathogenic E. coli (APEC) infections, ECP plays an important role in host cell recognition and biofilm formation.
