Organoids Generated with Spinning Bioreactors (IMAGE)
Caption
This visual abstract depicts the findings of Qian and Nguyen et al. when organoids generated with spinning bioreactors were infected with Zika virus. Zika virus preferentially infects neural progenitors in early stage cortical organoids generated using cost-effective miniaturized spinning bioreactors, resulting in suppressed proliferation, increased cell death, and macroscopic features resembling microcephaly.
