This satellite image, which was NASA's Image of the Day for March 2, 2020, compares nitrogen dioxide over China in early January and mid-February 2020. The difference shows the dramatic effects of reduced traffic during the February lockdown. The new study calculates the size of this effect, accounting for other factors that would affect air quality.
