Speciation Process in Whitefish

In many lakes new species of whitefish have evolved, often a small-bodied whitefish feeding on zooplankton and a large-bodied whitefish that eats insects and shells. By analysis of lake sediment scientists can determine the age of different whitefish populations and how quick new species can establish.
