Caption
This is an image of the X-ray sky centered on a gamma-ray burst which exploded on July 29, 2006. The image is almost half a degree across, the same size as the full moon. In this very long exposure of one million seconds many celestial X-ray sources can be seen, they are color coded according to their X-ray color (red for low energy X-rays, blue for higher energies).
