Discovery of GJ 758 B

This is the discovery image of GJ 758 B, taken in August 2009 at the Subaru telescope with the HiCIAO instrument in near infrared wavelengths. Without the special technology of "Angular Differential Imaging" used here, the light of the central star would hopelessly eclipse the images of both planetary candidates.
