Wilderness (IMAGE)
Caption
Joshua Tree National Park and the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twenty-Nine Palms lie only 9 km apart. Wilderness and its ideal are deeply embedded in the National Park Service, evidenced by the informational literature published by the National Park Service. Visitation and budget statistics enlighten the pressures on the park, which is mostly wilderness. A person is less likely to see another human being on the Marine Corps base ranges than they would within the park.
