Seeing the Light (IMAGE) Terry Collins Assoc Caption After much research and a few tests, the Long Point Causeway Improvement Project has identified the most effective, environment-friendly fencing materials for herding endangered turtles through marshland to culverts made of a polymer that offers both light and relative warmth in the passage. Earlier studies had shown turtles were reluctant to enter a pitch dark tunnel or one made of cold concrete. "We had to think like a turtle," says community project leader Rick Levick.
