Figure 2 shows a coculture model for current production in the dark. A: In the light, Chlorobium photosynthetically accumulates glycogen (red particles) using electrons derived from sulfide oxidation. B: In the dark, Chlorobium ferments glycogen to acetate, which is consumed by Geobacter to produce electric current.
