大腸菌などの病原性細菌による子宮の感染は、有害な妊娠転帰と関連付けられている。新たな研究から、ブレイド縫合糸を用いた子宮頸管縫縮術により、膣内微生物叢が攪乱されることで早期産および子宮内胎児死亡のリスクが高まる可能性があることが示唆されている。
