Hurricane Irene Now at the Southeastern US Coast (VIDEO)

An animation of satellite observations from Aug. 24 at 1:40 p.m. EDT until Aug. 26 at 1:32 p.m. EDT shows Irene moving through the Bahamas and along the southeastern US coast. By mid-day on Aug. 26, Irene's western edge were over South and North Carolina and coastal Georgia. Hurricane Irene has grown again and is now over 600 miles in diameter. Irene is a Category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Data from NOAA's GOES-13 satellite. Weekend updates on NASA's Hurricane webpage, Facebook and Twitter.
