3 Molecules of the Protein D13 Assembled Together to Form a Trimer (IMAGE)
Caption
The structure of the protein D13 from Vaccinia virus is very similar to the capsid protein from a number of unrelated viruses. The structure is a signature that reveals a previously undetected evolutionary link between these viruses. Knowing this structure means that it could potentially be disrupted to enable drug deposits.
