This image illustrates an electron micrograph of a very thin section of two neighboring cells from a series of 400 consecutive sections with profiles of lipid droplets (highlighted in orange) and an example of 3D reconstruction of lipid droplets in the background image. The aim of this Zooniverse citizen scientist project is to help determine the number, size, and location of lipid droplets in cells, and to map their relationship to other parts of the cell that are important for processing and using lipids.
