A wild sea lion performing a spatial alternation task during rehabilitation. She receives a fish for each correct choice. All training and testing was performed without direct human contact to promote successful release back to the wild. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Dec. 18, 2015, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Peter Cook at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and colleagues was titled, 'Algal toxin impairs sea lion memory and hippocampal connectivity, with implications for strandings.'
