This NASA infrared AIRS satellite image from Sept. 30 at 1:11 a.m. (Guam local time) shows the cloud top temperatures of Typhoon Parma (left) and Tropical Depression 18W (right). Highest clouds with temperatures as cold as -63F indicating strong thunderstorms appear in purple. 18W dissipated hours after this image.
