COLOMBIA : Orinoco River River Dolphins: PUERTO CARREÑO, COLOMBIA (IMAGE)
Caption
Nearly 3,700 Inia geoffrensis humboldtiana, otherwise known as river dolphins, live in the Orinoco river. As tertiary predators, their presence indicates sufficient fish and relative water quality. Though their numbers are stable, they are at risk of being injured or killed if they get caught in fishing nets or hit by boat propellers.
