CXI Station (IMAGE) DOE/SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory Caption The Coherent X-ray Imaging (CXI) experimental station at SLAC's Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) X-ray laser is specially equipped to study crystallized proteins in atomic-scale detail. When hit by LCLS X-rays in the central chamber (round porthole), crystals produce patterns that are recorded by detectors and used to map the 3-D structures of the proteins in atomic detail. This station was used in a study of a cellular receptor bound to a compound that can serve to lower blood pressure.
