In this experiment, mice are trained to reach through an opening in their chamber and grasp a pellet (represented here as a present). Researchers were interested in whether inhibiting or exciting the two different types of neurons impacted their success rate and the way that they may have failed. D1 neurons are shown in green, whereas D2 neurons are shown in red.
