Quark Structure of SIMPs (IMAGE)

The fundamental structure of the proposed SIMP (strongly interacting massive particle) is similar to that of a pion (left). Pions are composed of an up quark and a down antiquark, with a gluon (g) holding them together. A SIMP would be composed of a quark and an antiquark held together by a gluon (G).
