Flipon Logic Gates (IMAGE) InsideOutBio Caption The flipon conformation alters how the parts of a gene message are joined together. Any message that retains the kill-after-processing tag goes to trash. Joining codon A to codon B without the kill tag corresponds to an AND gate. The processing path is shown by the green line. It is open when the flipon DNA is in conformation 1. If the processing path follows the black line, the kill tag is not removed. This outcome occurs when the flipon conformation is in state 0. In this case, codon A will NOT ever be found with codon B, as those messages are destroyed.
