GPM Measurements of Precipitation near Hawaii (IMAGE)

GPM flew over the Hawaiian Islands on Dec. 2, 2016, at 9:51 p.m. HST and measured rain falling at greater than 9.3 inches (about 237 mm) per hour in intense storms southeast of the islands. Storm tops there were above 41,000 feet (12.5 km).
