Scanning EM of the Ependymal Surface (IMAGE)
Caption
A scanning EM of the ependymal surface overlaid on chains of migrating neuroblasts stained for a marker of young neurons in green. They both nicely illustrate the new concept that our study raises; namely that planar polarity of epithelia helps organize directional migration in the brain. This image relates to an article that appeared in the 13 January 2006 issue of the journal Science published by AAAS. This study, by Dr. K. Sawamoto of University of California, San Francisco and colleagues, was titled, "New Neurons Follow the Flow of Cerebrospinal Fluid In the Adult Brain"
